When my husband and I got together ten years ago, we envisioned a future together of fancy things and world traveling adventures, of the newest technologically advanced household objects, 'fun' cars and a couple kids.
Then reality set in...
He ended up with a job he hates, except on paycheck Friday, I ended up watching my degrees gather dust, and here we are with a house that is busting at the seams with our three children and endless piles of stuff and very little free time... for me.
As we grew a teensy, tiny bit older, my husband grew increasingly interested in running. I was always one to support others in athletic feats of competition, and encouraged him to begin racing in 5ks, 10ks, even 1/2 and full marathons...
If I ever knew where that would put me today...
Now, I am MARRIED TO THE RUN.
I occasionally struggle with the thought or the reality of getting it all done by myself with all three children (and the dog) when he is off racing in another town or state for the day, or even the week. I am truly proud of him and his accomplishments, as well as confident in my abilities to 'go at it alone'... It just seems very daunting at times.
Presently, I am focusing on supporting him in these goals he has set for himself, as I have definitely found myself married to the run... for at least the next 5-10 years or so.
Just a not-so average mom, getting fit between diaper changes and enchanted learning adventures.
